Forest & Fawn Friday 100 word prompt challenge: an enchanting encounter

The train rocked back and forth as it trundled along. She had bought a bouquet of peonies from an old woman near the entrance of the station.

As she sat down, the bouquet in her arms matching the flowers on her sundress, she looked across the carriage and saw him sitting there.

He was not extraordinarily handsome, but her eyes could not help but be drawn to him.

Hair the color of golden wheat, his pale blue eyes stared back with similar longing.

No words exchanged. He left the carriage five stops later.

She still remembers his face decades later.
